Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí won their first group game in the Cork Post-Primary Schools U 14 C Hurling Championship against Cobh on Thursday 24 October. The game was played on the school pitch in difficult conditions for hurling. In a close game CPB trailed until the 50th minute when a goal mouth scramble resulted in a goal and a lead of 1-5 to 6 points for the home side. Cobh quickly responded with 2 points to bring the teams level. The last five minutes were frenetic and saw CPB regain the lead with points from team captain Donagh Harrington and midfielder Cormac O’Connor. Cobh fought back with a late point but they couldn’t break down a hard working CPB defence to earn a draw. CPB held on to win by 1-7 to 9 points.
