On Thursday 1st May the 1st year ladies footballers played in the annual Cork County Blitz in Clonakilty. CPB had two teams who played excellent football throughout in the sweltering heat! CPB’s first team out played group games against Sacred Heart Clonakilty and Schull Community School beating both to earn a place in the semi final. Our second team to take to the field played group games against Skibbereen Community School’s two teams. We won the first game and played out a thrilling second game ending in a draw 2-2 to 1-5 also qualifying for the semi final. CPB 1 played Skibbereen Community School in the semi final coming out on top after a tough battle. CPB 2 played Mount Saint Michael in the semi final and even though they tried hard they unfortunately lost out. This meant CPB 1 played Rosscarbery in the final and after a titanic battle they came out on top by a few points. Captain for the final Caoimhe Hurley collected the plaque. Thanks to TY helpers Lucy, Faye, Amy, Ríona, Ella and Abbie. Well done to all 23 girls who wore the CPB colours with pride today and brought home the title. County semi final up next in the coming weeks.
