On Tuesday 22nd February CPB welcomed Castletroy College in the Munster A Senior Schools Plate. There was great excitement as this was the first senior rugby game played on the pitch in CPB. It was a dominant performance from the boys who led from early on and never relented. A well taken penalty by Dylan hicks in the first few mins put Bantry 3 points ahead! Eli Reynolds, who gave great options on the wing throughout the game, scored a try ten minutes in which gave Bantry some more motivation to push on. The ever reliable Dylan Hicks converted to make it 10-0 to CPB.
Dylan kicked another penalty shortly before the ref blew the half time whistle to leave the score 16-0 in our favour. Just after half time Stephen O’Donovan, who gave an exhibition in passing on the day, stole the ball and ran the length of the pitch dodging much of the Castletroy defence to score a superb individual try. This was followed shortly after by a try from Dylan . Castletroy did come into the game more in the second half getting some important scores and ensuring CPB pushed on to ensure victory. Finally Michael O’Donovan got his chance to score his try in the dying minutes, something he is making a great habit of! Alan Kelleher gave a great display holding strong in the centre of the pitch and made some vital catches for his side. The final score was CPB 31 Castletroy College 15.
