Coláiste Pobail Bheantraí had a comfortable victory in the first round of the Cork Post Primary schools U -14 ‘B’ football championship against Mt. St. Michaels on Wednesday 24 September. The game was played at the Bantry school pitch and the home side started quickly with a goal in the first few minutes. CPB dominated the first 20 minutes, however three Rosscarbery goals brought the away side back into the game at 1-14 to 3-1. Another CPB goal increased the gap to ten points just before half time.
At half time the score was CPB 2-14 Mt. St. Michael 3-01. Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí were able to introduce a number of talented substitutes in the second half. On a hot day this made a massive difference to the score line as Mt. St. Michaels had less players to call on from the bench. As Mt. St. Michaels chased the game, CPB managed to score a number of goals to win the game 8-25 to 3-7. With two games to go in the group stage of this championship there is still a lot of football to be played. CPB are due to play Schull in Ballydehob on Thursday 2 October.
