Today, our Physical Education department unveiled a thrilling addition to our curriculum: Pickleball. This growing sport, sweeping the globe, has now found a home within our school’s PE lessons. Thanks to a collaboration between Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí and Cork Sports Partnership, our PE department is equipped with the necessary gear provided by the latter. Furthermore, community engagement is at the forefront, with two evening pickleball sessions hosted weekly in our PE hall. These sessions, expertly guided by our very own PE teacher, Mr. Trevor Hogan, aim to introduce and foster interest in the sport among locals. The inaugural community session took place last night, marking the commencement of a seven-week program. Anticipation is high for the formation of a local club, with plans for outdoor pickleball nights on our courts come summer. Presently, two sessions are available on Tuesdays, from 6pm to 7pm and 7pm to 8pm. Limited spaces remain for the 6pm slot, so those intrigued are encouraged to join us next Tuesday to experience the excitement firsthand.
