On Tuesday three Enterprise groups represented CPB at the Cork North & West Student Enterprise Awards. They were
Eco Designs – they upcycle pre-owned and broken jewellery sourced in charity shops to create stunning, bespoke new jewellery. Group members: Bebhinn Horstmanshoff, Alaina O Brien, Alva Sjoeberg
Enkindle – the produce fun, fragrant and unique candles using beeswax. Group members: Samantha Sunga, Aoibhe Barry, Eimear Courcey & Aleezah Bangloy
Bantry Barks – they produce 100% upcycled and sustainable dog bandanas from scrap material. Group members: Grace Kingston, Emma Flynn, Abbey Connolly, Molly Smith & Maria Barry.
Three judges spoke with each group for five minutes about their business plans, finances, future plans, marketing and much more! There were more than twenty participating groups in the competition. In exciting news Eco Designs won the award for Sustainability and Bantry Barks won the award for Best Social Media. A huge well done to the three groups for participating, the two winning companies and their teachers Ms O’Neill, Ms McGrath and Ms Nicole Murphy for their hard work over the last number of months.

DJS Engineering, Kinsale Community School took first place for their agri product which makes it safer for farmers de-horning cattle, a job which causes many accidents on the farm each year. They will represent the West Cork region at the national finals in Mullingar in May.
