Report on South Munster Cross Country Championships 2024
The students from Colaiste Pobail Bheanntrai gave a very good account of themselves at the South Munster Cross Country which was held at Tramore Valley Park on Friday the 9th of February. Accompanied by their teacher, Mr. Ó Donnabháin, there were a series of exciting races held in Cork City on a challenging and wet cross-country course that tested all athletes.
Michéal Coppinger qualified for the Munster Cross Country by placing an impressive 15th place in a very competitive field in the Junior Boy category. Thomas English, Sam Towns and Patrick Biffen also ran an excellent race and gained great experience as upcoming CPB athletes.
Darragh Coppinger was unlucky to miss out on qualifying for the Munster Championships but still ran a great race.
Anna Towns placed a very impressive 8th in the Senior Girls competition qualifying for the upcoming Munster’s.
The highlight of the day was Sean Lawton rounding off a great day of cross-country athletics by dominating the Senior Boys category and romping home in 1st place. Sean showed great form for the upcoming Munster Championships on the 27th of February.
