On Wednesday our 1st and 2nd year boys played Rochestown College away.
The first year boys played out a nail biting game which went down to the wire with great teamwork clinching a one point victory for CPB. The opposition led after the first quarter by 5 points but CPB settled and had the game level at half time. They continued this momentum in the 3rd quarter to take an impressive 5 point lead. Micheal Coppinger was excellent on the day making himself available all over the court and created great plays. Conor Hourihan made some excellent shots contributing half of CPB’s final tally! Sean Holland was sharp on rebounds scoring 4 points also. Timmy Gibbons and Conor Sheedy also got their names on the scoresheet on the day.

The second year boys had a great performance with a convincing win in their game. It was a close affair in the first quarter with the scoreline 14-10 in CPB’s favour. The boys pushed on from here and ensured the win with sharp shooting and excellent defence. Darragh Coppinger’s work rate was brilliant all over the court and he did a fantastic man marking job on Rochestown’s top player Royce Lin. Oran O’Connell was tenacious in defence turning over possession. MVP Steven O’Sullivan created a lot of scoring opportunities throughout the game with his great work ethic and movement and added 10 points to the team total. Tom Conlon’s shooting was excellent scoring several three pointers. Final score CPB 45 Rochestown 27. The win qualifies the second years for this years playoffs.
