On Friday our senior boys footballers played Presentation Brothers College in the County championship. The first half was a close affair with the score 1-5 to 0-5 in CPB’s favour. However, it was a dominant performance from the boys in the second half. They limited the opposition to just two points while they drove forward to finish with a tally of 4-14. Sean Cronin gave a defensive masterclass ably assisted by all the CPB defenders. Liam Hourihan, who contributed 5 points, and Cathal McCarthy were excellent in possession and showed great movement. Callum McElhinney provided great assists for scores while also raising a white flag of his own. A lovely team move ended in a superb goal from Michael O’Riordan. Ben O’Sullivan was in fine form scoring 2-4 on the day with DJ O’Brien kicking three points. Ben Clancy hit the back of the net before the final whistle also. It was a brilliant team performance and we wish them the best of luck in the next round.
Scorers:
DJ O’Brien 0-3, Ben O’Sullivan 2-4, Phillip Harrington 0-1, Michael O’Riordan 1-0, Callum McElhinney 0-1, Liam Hourihan 0-5 and Ben Clancy 1-0.
