Our u17 Footballers were in action on Thursday in Munster B Championship Vs Mercy Mounthawk Tralee. The game, which took place in Banteer, was played at a fast pace throughout. The Tralee outfit settled quickly and kicked the first three scores of the game. However in the 6th minute, a sweeping team move saw Oisin Daly riffle a shot into the bottom corner to level up the game. Paddy Russell, Fachtna O’Connell, Thomas O Donoghue & Cathal McCarthy battled hard throughout, while up front Oisin Murphy & Sean O’Sullivan were a constant threat to the Tralee defence. Facing an uphill battle in the 2nd half, CPB made a great start with Jack Manning & Oisin Murphy to the fore, while DJ O’Brien superbly punished a short kickout to find the net from distance. James Murphy & Colin McCarthy anchored a stubborn defence in the 2nd half. While our boys ended in defeat, they can be proud of their effort, facing a side who’s senior team are playing in the Hogan Cup All-Ireland final in a few weeks.
