On Thursday the U16 and U19 boys rugby team travelled to play Midleton in the Mungret Cup.
The U16 game was very close for the first half with only three points between the teams at half time. Daniel Ward’s tackling was immense and he crossed the whitewash for a fine try. Conor Young Made an excellent break through to score a try. Donnacha Murnane’s kicking was excellent all game and he scored a conversion. Danny O’Donovan was excellent on high ball. Midleton stormed into the game in the second half and ensured they came away the victory. Hard luck to the CPB boys.
The U19 was a tense affair from start to finish. CPB outscored the opposition in the first half 14 to 7. Dara Sheedy and Eli Reynolds scored the tries which Conor Bignell duly converted. Billy O’Connor was excellent to carry ball. Charlie Cronin was super in the scrum. Owen Crowley made a great impact when introduced in the second half. The whole team held a great defensive line throughout making the opposition work very hard to make any ground. CPB’s line outs were solid throughout also. Unfortunately, Midleton found the vital scores to come away with the win with the final score CPB 14 Midleton 17
