Yesterday our Junior ladies football played Sacred Heart Clonakilty in Munster competition. Although only 17 players were available, all girls got plenty of game time and played some great football. A huge well done to Eva Leahy Ella O’Donovan for playing in goals and making some really important saves. The outstanding midfield combination of Ali O’Sullivan and Grace Kingston led to a combined score of 2-3 in the game. In defence Molly O’Sullivan had vital interceptions ably assisted by the whole defensive unit. Sheelagh O’Donovan showed her pace and stamina, making consistently strong runs with the ball while also raising a white flag. Aoife O’Shea, on her school football debut, impressed with her work off the ball ensuring she was an option for her teammates all the time. Aoibhinn Arundel scored a grat goal and Leah Keane chipped in with a point. Unfortunately the girls lost out to a strong Clonakilty side but can be very proud of their teamwork display.
Scorers: Sheelagh 0-1, Ali 1-1, Katie 0-1, Grace 1-2, Aoibhinn 1-0, Leah K 0-1
