Well done to our Under 16 Boys B Basketball team who opened their league campaign with a hard earned victory over Carrigaline Community School today. Darragh Dullea, Shay O’ Mahoney and Danny O’ Donovan led the scoring while Thomas O’Donoghue, Conor Young and Darragh O’ Shea were excellent on rebounds at both ends of the floor. Christopher O’ Shea hit two early three pointers to give CPB a good start to the game. Tom Fitzgerald, Donnacha Murnane and Mikey O’ Sullivan put in excellent shifts and Colm French and Sean McCarthy made excellent impacts. This team is student led and coached by Charlie Curran, Oisín O’ Connor and Paddy Russell. They did an excellent job today to get the win but more importantly getting each player in for a good amount of time.
The Under 19 game was a one sided affair in Carrigaline favour but the Bantry team can be proud of their efforts. Special mention to Ollie Cronin who hit a number of three pointers while playing his first ever game of basketball. The B teams are away Críost Rí next Monday while the A teams open their campaigns this coming Thursday away to Patrician Academy.
