Congratulations to our u16.5 footballers who defeated Kinsale Community School on Friday in the Munster Championship, and now progress to the Quarter-Final of the competition.
Having already defeated the same opposition in the county section last month, CPB knew a fast start was needed to not complacency kick in, and our lads did exactly just that. A couple of early frees in a stop-start opening quarter settled the team into an early lead, which CPB never relinquished. Odhran Crowley, Chris Cronin & Shane Collins led a strong defensive unit and restricted Kinsale to 5 points in the first half. Sean Cronin set up some fine scores, while up front the endeavours of Roy McCarthy, Michael O Riordan & Kian Kelleher ensured CPB went in at half time with a 5 point lead. A couple of quick fire goals early in the second half killed the game as a contest, with CPB running out 10point winners.
There is a quick turnaround for the group, as they now hope to reach a Munster semi-final, with Boherbue Comprehensive School providing formidable opposition on Wednesday in the quarter-final. Well done to all.
