A huge congratulations to Lisa O’Sullivan, Alice Byrne and Joshua O’Donovan on representing Colaiste Pobail Bheanntrai at the 60th year of the BT Young Scientist in Dublin on the 10th – 14th of January. Their project titled “the Bystander Culture – an analysis of the role of the bystander in bullying”. The project looks at peoples’ reasons for by standing and not intervening in bullying situations. The students spent Wednesday setting up their stands and they attended the Opening Ceremony that evening. On Thursday and Friday, they were extremely busy with so many visitors to their stands as well as the competition judges. The students met many celebrities and politicians including the president Micheal Martin, TD Michael Collins, and Norma Foley. They met with lots of students from other schools and great friendships have been formed. The awards ceremony was held Friday evening and the students returned home on Saturday evening. A huge well done from all in CPB for being such great ambassadors for the school. They should be so proud of themselves for the great achievement of getting through to the finals and representing themselves so well on a national stage. Finally, a big thank you to teacher Ms Murphy for her guidance all year and Ms Kingston for her support and time spent in Dublin with the students last week.
