On Friday our 1st year boys and U16 boys soccer teams played Clonakilty in a double header at home in the Cork Cup. It was a great battling performance from our 1st year boys with the score 0-0 at halftime. Unfortunately later in the second half the opposition hit a purple patch and the final score was 3-0 to the opposition. Micheal Coppinger was unlucky as he saw his penalty come back off the crossbar. Bill O’Donovan created great space while Conor Hourihan made some fantastic saves in goal. The CPB defence was excellent with special mention to Sean Holland, Owen Myler and Max Leahy. Rowen O’Sullivan turned over possession time and time again to keep CPB on the attack. Bart Gebus’ passing was accurate throughout.
Next up the u16 boys started brightly with two first half goals from Donnacha Murnane and Ryan O’Sullivan to put CPB in the driving seat. Cillian O’Sullivan and Ryan O’Boy’s clinical passing was putting the opposition under pressure with Eamonn Schultz creating great space. Darragh Coppinger gave a great defensive display with Tomas Mineikis turinging over possession on numerous occasions. Final score was 2-1 to CPB.
Well done to both teams on their hard work and great display of football.
