The U/17’s boys soccer team faced a very strong and physical Kinsale side in the Cork Cup on Monday, after a very heavy defeat last year, the team knew they were up against a wall. Kinsale managed to score two goals in the first half, including a world class save by the Kinsale goal keeper and the cross bar to deny CPB a goal (or two). The second half was a tight affair with both teams having chances to score before Dylan Barry O’Callaghan was fouled inside the box after a great attacking build up. Patryk Gacek stepped up to take the penalty, again the Kinsale goal keeper was up to the task and saved the penalty however Patryk was able to put the ball into the net when the keeper was unable to hold onto the ball. CPB pushed hard but couldn’t find the equaliser in the end. Final score 2-1, the squad can hold their heads high as they certainly have improved since last year. Well done.
