CPB U19 girls basketball took to the court at home in their first ever National Cup game against Piper’s Hill Naas. It was a close game from start to finish with great basketball on display from both sides. Lily O’Sullivan was on fire contributing 23 points to CPB’s total including three brilliant 3 pointers. Katie Russell scored 5 baskets as well as two free throws. Daisy O’Donoghue secured some important rebounds with Meadhbh Sammon, Clodagh Downey, Leah Cotter and Anna Conlon all getting on the scoresheet. It was great to see two of our exchange students, Naroa and Mar, don the CPB colours in their first few weeks here. Unfortunately CPB fell five points behind in the first quarter and although the teams were very evenly matched they could not make up the deficit with the final score 51 to 59 to Piper’s Hill. Well done girls on a great start to the season and for such a competitive showing in the National Cup competition.
Scorers:
Meadhbh Sammon 6, Katie Russel 12, Clodagh Downey 6, Leah Cotter 2, Anna Conlon 2, Lily O’Sullivan 23
