On Monday 5th December Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí’s u15 boys were crowned Munster champions after beating Coláiste Dún Iascaigh, Cahir on a score line of 5-10 to 3-10. The first half was a one-sided affair with CPB starting brightly and taking firm control of the game scoring 1-2 in the opening five minutes. Adam Gilman Burke carried great possession from the CPB back line with accurate passes to the forward line. It was a commanding performance from the CPB forwards with goals from DJ O’Brien and Dan O’Neill. Seán O’Sullivan and Óisín Murphy battled hard to win possession up front as they both raised green flags of their own. Cathal McCarthy (captain) dominated aerially winning possession for CPB and he also kicked two great points over the course of the match. His midfield partner, Thomas O’Donoghue, was excellent on free taking duty converting three. The half time score was 4-7 to 0-2. It was a game of two halves as Cahir stormed back into the game in the second half scoring 3-8 in the 30 minute period. This put the CPB backs under pressure but a strong defensive unit ensured CPB held on for the win. James Murphy put in some great tackles at full back with Killian Hurley and Darragh Coppinger making vital blocks to stop the opposition’s attacks. DJ O’Brien scored CPB’s only goal of the second half giving him a personal tally of 2-1 for the day.
