Congratulations to our senior ladies football team who beat Colaiste Threasa Kanturk yesterday in a fantastic match at home. It was a closely contested and high scoring game which provided plenty of entertainment for spectators. Aoife Kingston opened CPB’s scoring account with a point followed by white flags from Meadhbh Sammon and Lainey Barry who also scored a goal each in the first half. Colaiste Threasa responded with a goal and some nice points of their own to leave the half time score 2-8 to 1-4 in CPB’s favour. Molly Harrington fresh from her first half in goals had the ball in the back of the net three minutes into the second half. The opposition cancelled this out with a goal of their own quickly as the sides traded scores throughout the game in an enthralling contest. CPB secured victory with well taken goals from Elaine McSweeney, Katie Russell and Emma Kelly. A special mention to Anna McCarthy for her superb saves in the second half to keep the opposition from taking the lead. Clíodhna O’Shea and Caoimhe O’Shea turned over great ball in the backs with Molly O’Sullivan making herself constantly available to carry the ball out of defence. Grace Kingston and Ali O’Sullivan worked tirelessly in midfield. Overall, it was a super team performance with all 18 girls getting plenty of game time. Final score was CPB 6-10 Colaiste Threasa 4-8. Well done ladies. They are now through to the Munster quarter final.
