On Thursday the u16 rugby boys took to the pitch against Villiers College in the Mungret Shield competition. CPB started the game strongly with the majority of their scores coming in the first half. Tries were scored by Conor Young and Daniel Ward with Donnacha Murnane in fine form scoring kicking three penalties and one conversion. The backs were excellent keeping the opposition score to just 5 points at half time. In the second half Villiers powered into the game with vital scores and CPB were under pressure. Conor Young again crossed the whitewash with Donnacha converting to give us some breathing space. Daniel Ward put in fantastic tackles and showed great leadership throughout. Adam O’Donovan was superb in the rucks with Georgie McNulty making strong carries breaking through the opposition defensive line. Danny O’Donovan’s decision making was brilliant and Joe Murnane’s tackling was excellent on the day. CPB held on to win on a scoreline of 28-26. Well done boys!
