Today was a historic day for girls rugby in CPB, with our first ever Girls Senior Cup team. The match took place in Limerick V St Annes who have won the competition for the last two years in a row. The CPB girls were brave throughout the match despite the strong opposition and never dropped their heads. The first Bantry try came from a Niamh McCarthy quick penalty which took St Annes unaware. The ball was quickly passed to Ciara O’ Connor who crossed the white wash. The second try allowed Grace Kingston to show off her speed as she raced from inside her own 22 to the opposition try line grounding the ball. The 3rd CPB try was grounded by Niamh McCarthy following the CPB pack mauling from outside the 22 to the try line. The CPB scrum was dominant on the day, while the lineout saw some good stolen ball from St Annes put ins. Congratulations to St Annes on their win. Well done to the first CPB Girls Senior Cup Team, and to the girls who played their first senior game.
