Well done to our Under 16 boys Basketball team who are through to the Pinergy Schools National Cup Semi-Final after an excellent quarter-final win at home today. After a shakey start against a much more physical Limerick team, the basketball ability began to give the Bantry Boys the advantage and they eventually settled to take a first quarter lead of 22 to 6 with the excellent Jack Phillips doing the majority of the scoring. Fine shooting in the second and third quarters by James Keane and again Jack Phillips killed the game as a contest and the Bantry boys ran out winners on a scoreline of 61-32 in the end. There were excellent performances all around the court. Paddy Russell was very busy on rebounds and notched up a nice few scores also. Cathal McCarthy hit 10 points including two three pointers. James Murphy was solid under the basket with many rebounds while Jack Gibbons keeps getting better wityh every game. Charlie Curran was solid on point guard duty with many assists to his credit and a good defensive game.
Top scorers-Jack Phillips 26. James Keane 17, Cathal McCarthy 10.
