On the 12th & 13th of September Colaiste Pobail Bheanntrai will be visited by Master Baker, Derek O Brien, founder of the Irish Baking Academy http://www.bakingacademyireland.ie
The Home Economics students in Transition Year and Fifth Year along with representatives of the Parents Association will have a unique opportunity to attend and participate in a Masterclass in Baking.
On Thursday afternoon and Friday morning Derek will give a hands-on demonstration which will include cakes, savoury quick bread and yeast breads. The students will then make the items demonstrated, and the fruits of their labours will be sold at the Friday Food market outside
O Keefe’s Supervalu. All ingredients used will be kindly sponsored by Supervalu and all proceeds will go to CPB. Many thanks to Martin McCardle & Donal McCarthy of Supervalu and to Dr. Cotter for their involvement in organising this event.
A number of Transition year students will also be working with local food suppliers who will be showcasing their products in Super Valu on Friday afternoon. Students will be distributing food samples, promoting local producers and providing information on their products.
A lecture on William Martin Murphy will be held in the Maritime Hotel on Saturday evening 14th of September at 8pm. All welcome. Free Entry.
