On Wednesday this week, the school community were treated to a visual spectacle from West Cork based Wood Sculptor Nathan Solomon who was invited to work with TY Construction Studies by their teacher, Mr. Ó Donnabháin. Nathan worked on one side of the bench today whose design is based on the rolling shape of the sea waves due to Banntry being a maritime town.
The students under the guidance of their teacher worked to design a decorative bench that is currently being constructed by Nathan. Their designs were inspired by all the various aspects of Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí and its surrounds such as the famous anchor, fishing, rugby, football, St. Brendan, etc.
Once completed, the bench will be permanently installed in the school grounds for the student population to enjoy for years to come.
