On Saturday March 8th, three Colaiste Pobail Bheanntrai athletes qualified to compete in the All Ireland schools Cross Country Championships at CIT. To gain qualification they had to successfully compete in both the South Munster and the Munster schools competitions. Our athletes were successful in all three races on Saturday.
Darragh McElhinney ran in the Minor Boys 2500m. He led the field for most of the race and was placed second in a time of 9.52. There were 109 athletes in this race.
The Junior Girls Cross Country title was won by Caoimhe Harrington in great style in a time of 10.44. There were 86 runners in this race. In the Senior Girls 2500m Niamh Cotter had a challenging race, she finished in a time of 11.04 to claim 6th place in this competition and receive a well-deserved medal. We are extremely proud of our athlete’s achievements. They are a credit to themselves, their families and our school.
