Today our Junior ladies footballers replicated the 2 point success of the senior team earlier in the week with a great win against a strong Skibbereen Community School side. Both teams were neck and neck for the game with brilliant football on display. At half time the score was level CPB 2-3 and SCS 1-6. In the second half the girls had to dig deep to win on a scoreline of CPB 4-7 to SCS 2-11. Meadhbh Sammon was in fine scoring form contributing 3-4 of CPB’s final tally. She formed a strong partnership in the middle of the field alongside Faye Hurley, who scored a brilliant point also, with both creating lots of opportunities throughout the game. Abbie O’Sullivan scored a great goal and Molly Harrington scored a super point. The CPB defence did really well with important tackles put in by Molly O’Sullivan and Anna McCarthy did a great job at full back to neutralise Skibbereen’s attack. Chloe Daly impressed with her passing range and Sheelagh O’Donovan’s pace troubled the opposition with her darting runs. Norah Cronin had a great game in goals with some important saves. Katie Russell rounded out the CPB scores with a well taken point after great teamwork to get the ball up the pitch. Well done ladies and best of luck in the semi final
