Colaiste Pobail Bheanntrai girls reach the final in the All Ireland Certified Irish Angus Beef competition.
Two of our students, Clare Barry and Rebecca Harrington have reached the All Ireland stage of the Irish Certified Angus Beef competition to be held in Croke Park in March. The girls, as part of their Agricultural science class in transition year produced a 3 minute video about the beef industry. This brought them to the regional stage where they were interviewed by a panel of experts in Limerick. They have also been busy researching sustainability in the beef industry as their theme and have visited many industries in the area as part of this project. The girls have written a children’s book called ‘The Adventures of Ali Angus’ which they have read in their local primary schools, Dromore NS and Coomhola NS. The girls are launching their book in their school on March 12th in our school. They have made up some catchy songs where they have been active on Instagram and Youtube promoting the Certified Irish Angus beef brand. The girls, along with their life size mascot from their book will also be at the annual Arc House Walk run by Bantry Macra Na Feirme on Sunday March 10th. We wish the girls and their mentor teacher Ms Cornelia Hourihan every success in the final on March 14th and hope the prize of 5 Angus calves will be coming back to Bantry
