8 Students from Colaiste Pobail Bheanntraí competed at the AVIVA Munster Schools Cross Country championships on Thursday Feb 7th held at WIT having qualified from the South Munster Championships.
First to run was Caoimhe Harrington in the Minor Girls race, which she led from start to finish to win an individual gold medal.
Niamh Cotter running in the girls Intermediate race over 4,500mtrs also won an individual medal finishing third overall.
The Intermediate boys team were next up in a race over 5km in worsening underfoot conditions, with a team made up of John O’Sullivan, Diarmuid O’Shea, Darren Manning and Eoghan McElhinney finishing 4th, just missing out on top three teams who qualify for the All Irelands.
Steven Holland had the toughest race of the day in the boys Senior race over 6 km in very difficult conditions. He ran a very creditable race but missed out on qualification for the All Irelands.
Caoimhe, Niamh and Eoghan all qualified to represent the school and Munster in the All Ireland Championships to be held in Belfast in March.
