The U/19 Girls Soccer team took on Colaiste NI Phiarsaigh yesterday in very wet and blustery conditions. With no substitutes the girls were facing an uphill battle. Ni Phiarsaigh went ahead early and our defence was constantly under pressure, Aisling O’Sullivan was leading our defensive line and Aoibhin Arundel in goals was under enormous pressure. On the stroke of half time Debbie O’Reagan scored after a fantastic build up play from the girls.
In the second half with the wind behind us, the girls drew strength from this and turned the tide. Our defensive line was solid as ever and Aoibhin Arundel in goals made some world class saves. Up front Ayla O’rouke with two assists from the wing resulted in two more goals by Leah O’Shea.
Unfortunately the girls lost out on the day, credit where credit is due to all the girls who never stopped playing and never gave up.
