TY2 have been working with Winnie O’ Sullivan of the Bantry Tidy Towns Committee as part of their YSI community involvement programme. They have been busy litter picking and painting railings around trees in the Square and at the moment they are working on flower beds with Winnie and Mattie Keane from Future Forests. The Tidy Towns Committee has handed over the design of two new beds recently cleared in the laneway behind J.J. Crowleys. Some students called out to Mattie in Kealkil and got advice on suitable plants and have since planted these. Watch out for more additions to their ‘Fairy Garden’ and also watch out for completion of the second bed which will have an emphasis on recycling with the installation of metal flowers some of the students are busy making from used cans.
