Members of the Colaiste Pobail Bheanntraí Young Pioneers Centre, who have pledged to abstain from alcohol and drugs until they reach the age of eighteen, met with Mr Robert Shannon, President of the Pioneers Association and Fr Michael Moynihan PP Glengarriff. The participants received a blessing and were presented with their membership cards, pins and information leaflets. Mr Shannon spoke briefly to the group and commended their choice to abstain.
This year the Coláiste Pobail Bheanntaí Young Pioneers Centre, under the leadership of chairperson Padraig Twomey, has been especially engaged in promoting alternatives to the use and misuse of substances and their activities culminated with a trip to the cinema in Bantry for a private screening of Star Trek Into Darkness.
