Technology Together – Bridge Classes
TY1 students have been teaching computer classes to visitors from the community, including some parents and grandparents, who are interested in improving their computer skills. A six week course was designed by TY1 and twenty adults have been welcomed to our school, each taught by a 4th Yr. mentor. In this way we are sharing knowledge and resources and extending a hand of friendship to the wider community.
Members of the Bantry Bridge club are now coming to our school for four weeks to teach T.Y.1 students how to play Bridge.
Exchanging these skills is an enjoyable and beneficial experience for both students and visitors. Both the teaching of and learning of new skills will bring about an improvement in the lives of all those involved. Our project creates connections between different groups in society promoting a sense of belonging.
It is an inclusive project and fits into each of the 4C’s which underpin the Young Social Innovators programme: Care, Co-operate, Communicate and Change.
